Protools Notes

When creating a new session in the ProTools select these settings:

Audio file type: BWF (.WAV)

Sample Rate: 48kHz

Bit Depth: 16 bit

I/O setting: Stereo mix

tick Interleaved

Things to remember:

Stereo - two tracks in one

Mono - one single track 

Cmd and = to bring up mixer
                                                       Use all at once

Bit depth = bucket of loudness

16 bit = CD Quality 

SPL = Sound pressure level 

To avoid clipping audio

Quiet sound= High gain/sensitive close as possible

Loud sound = Low gain/ Sensitive far away

Automation Changes:

The things that say waveform/volume/pan L/Pan R

Use the pen tool or straight line to alter them

Exporting:

New track - Stereo - Master fader 

Then press Link Timeline and Edit Selection button and place the markers at the top of the timeline (marks at the top).


Save -> File -> Bounce -> WAV ->   -Interleaved
                              |                           - 16 Bit            
                              |                           - 48kHz
                              | 
                              |
                              |
                              |
(eg. 3 voice overs on 3 tracks put on to a new 4th track which is called bouncing)

Save it to a safe location (hard drive)
